Liquid metropolis
Last January I got my first international fashion magazine cover with this publication. The photoset was called Serkis. It was kind of surreal. Sure, that sounds amateur, I’ve been on stage and published countless times, but a cover is somehow a bit different. I don’t know why. It just is. In February I landed on another cover. The whole photoshoot for that set was a wild adventure in itself, but that’s a story for another time.
The current photoset is called Liquid Metropolis. I live in an area where the city pours into the ocean. We have beaches everywhere. The cover image was taken on a concrete staircase that dumps into the water at high tide. Just down the road is a dog park and cliffs where adventurous types will fly around in hang gliders. The whole photoset was a composition of three different shoots that capture that part of life here. Having been born here it can be easy to overlook, or forget about, this part of the city. It’s easy to not see it. Daily routines are the same for all of us, work and basic obligations don’t change. Liquid Metropolis was a fun look at my home through a fresh lens. While I don’t spend much time at the beach, it’s nice to be reminded that a breath of fresh air is never far away.
